Ken Broggelwirth is an accomplished technology professional with many degrees and certifications and has held high-level positions in fortune 500 companies for over 35 years, but his real love and passion since childhood has been music and then dance. Having started his dance journey in the late 70s, he quickly fell in love with the hustle as the disco craze was in full swing and became close friends with Roberto and Michael Pagan. He became one of the original New York Express Dancers and helped Roberto build and run two studios. He eventually learned all of the ballroom dances and styles from Roberto as well as notable trainers, coaches, and judges like Eddie Norman, Les Andrews, Laurie Clark, Charles and Jean Penatello, Shirley Ballas, Bill Davies, John Nyemchek, David Hamilton, Susan Silva, Dona Marie Portelli among others. Ken also studied Jazz and Ballet at Vic D’amore School of Dance throughout this time. More recently he has been coached by Esther Don, Amy Block-Hamilton, Karina Smirnoff (US Latin Champion, Jose DeCamps and Joanna Zacharewicz (Reigning US and World Rhythm Champions) and worked as often as possible with many other notable trainers in addition to regular training with Stephanie Falciano.
Dancing as an Amateur and Pro/Am student, he won many awards, and eventually Roberto Pagan convinced him to turn professional and for many years Ken taught and competed as a Pro/Am competitor with New York Express Dance Studios both regionally and nationally. Eventually Ken formed a professional partnership with Ms. Marcia Miller and taught at her Dance-in-Time Dance Studio as well as started the rough road as a Pro/Pro competitive couple dancing International Style 10-Dance.
After a brief two year partnership, family and career demands prevented the couple from continuing. Subsequently, Ken continued to teach, working for Dance City, Touch Dancing, and various other studios, and most recently managed and taught for Stephanie's Dance with Us.
With more than 25 years dance experience, Ken continues teaching children and adults in social or competitive styles and actively competes with students who wish to do so. His range of dances includes all dances in the International Standard/Latin and American Smooth/Rhythm styles as well as Hustle, Salsa, Bachata, Argentine Tango, and others. Ken maintains an aggressive exercise, cycling, and nutritional schedule and even when he retires from his Technology career plans on dancing for as long as anyone wants to dance with him. “Dance and Music feed the mind, spirit, and body,”
Ken is registered with the National Dance Council of America (N.D.C.A) as a Certified Dance Teacher and Pro-Am Competitor, degreed member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) with multiple professional certifications. He continues pursuing additional certifications and plans on judging in the near future.
Ken teaches all styles of Ballroom, Latin, Hustle, Salsa, Bachata, and many other dances in both competitive and social modes, privates or groups for various studios.
